lowest bidders have to cut costs somewhere. Its usually in the labor pool and material. Well, you get what you pay for!

Yup - I remember having TWC installers come in and wire up my TV. They put 2 splitters in series (1 for the main, and then a second for the TV/Cable modem). TWC came and replaced the splitters with proper ones (one with a -3dB drop vs -7 to connect to the 2nd one, and a different splitter for the cablemodem).

Second set of guys came (on a weekend no less), and installed a drop-amp (dang!) - these were actual TWC employees.

The third guy (been with TWC for a LONG time), got rid of the drop amp, replaced the bad splitters and most of my isseus were fixed.
