| [Network] High latency in Versailles, KY.
I have experienced very high latency all day to a point where the line is unusable. I call support and got dropped. then called back and was told since I run linux they could not help me and the problem was in my browser?. Third call back got disconnected again. Fourth call and was told on the last call they sent a ticket to level II. Not a very good experience.
The problem appears to be with larger packets I can ping my gateway with 64 byte default packets and get no loss and good latency. If I increase to 512 bytes I get over 50% packet loss. This results in terrible performance even effecting DNS resolution. I had to drop my MTU to the modem to 384 Bytes to even get this posted. My line has been very reliable up until this and I sure hope this doesn't turn into one of those horror stories. At this point my line really isn't usable. |

| Well good news Windstream corrected the problem around 13:00 today and the tech stopped by the house a few minutes ago to make sure everything was OK.
The had to reset the DSLAM to get my port cleared but the problem appears to be gone now and no packet loss from my end to www.windstream.net even with a packet size of >512 bytes.
Thank you Windstream... |
