I see your point, but I think in general this is more related to the "standard of living" rather then the "cost of living" and the "standard of living" is somewhat low in Hawaii. Oh yeah that's true. Standard of living is definitely more important than cost of living. On the other hand it's Hawaii (yay weather), so just for technicality sake I'd argue their standard of living is deceptively higher than it appears.
