DSL/Linksys router issues

I've been using AT&T DSL for years.

I've got a DSL (SpeedStream 5360 Modem - no configuration options) connected to a Linksys wrt54g V5 running a PPPoE (with firmware updated yesterday).

Two days ago, the Linksys is no longer able to get an IP address. "Can’t get an IP from PPPoE Server"

I can add a network connection in XP and connect directly through the Modem via PPPoE so my name and password are correct. I can also use that connection through the linksys to the modem but I can not get the modem to get a PPPoE address, anymore.

I've checked my setup:
»linksys.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/lin···qid=3687

And I've gone through these steps:

There are 4 error messages that you can encounter when setting up PPPoE on your router:

4. Can’t get an IP from PPPoE Server

To resolve No. 4:

This error message means your request was received by your ISP’s server but did not assign your router a public IP address. To resolve this, perform a power cycle.

Power Cycling

Step 1:
Shut down the computer.

Step 2:
Unplug the router’s power cable.

Step 3:
Unplug the Broadband modem’s power cable and wait for 30 seconds.

Step 4:
Plug in the Broadband modem’s power cable and wait for its lights to appear stable.

Step 5:
Plug in the router's power cable once the modem’s lights appear stable.

Step 6:
Power on the computer and test the Internet connection.

NOTE: If the router still receiving the PPPoE Error messages, verify the internet connection in the Broadband modem if active. Connect the Broadband modem to the computer using an Ethernet cable without the router installed and make sure that the Internet connection is active. If not, contact your Internet Service Provider.

Thinking perhaps it was a linksys issue I purchased a WRT54G2 and it can not get a PPPoE connection either.

Any suggestions?
