Re: Doom 3

It's been a while since I have played Doom3, but I remembered that Doom3 build 1.1-1.3 requires write access to it's own folder \Program Files (x86)\Doom 3\ which a normal user or an admin with UAC enabled (but not elevated) couldn't access. If you can write in the game's own folder, the game will run fine.

Solution for that is to run Windows Explorer as administrator, right click on the Doom 3 folder, select Properties, select Security tab, under Group or user names: pick Users, go to Permissions for User (or specific user) and check under Allow column Modify (Write will also be selected simultaneously), click apply, exit. That way data can be written into the game folder from any user who plays the game.

I've run Doom 3 since I had Vista. No issues with UAC, and I don't give Doom 3 any extra permissions.
