Mkay... this is just crazy.
quote: According to a report on Swedish website expressen.se, Daniel and Henrik Sedin are looking for identical 12-year contracts worth $63 million each, similar to the one signed by fellow countryman Henrik Zetterberg with the Detroit Red Wings.

| reply to daT Dear god, are the Sedins insane? Or just so desperate to stay joined at the hip, that they'll make insane demands and end up giving a "group discount" to the team that takes them both?
As for rumour, scratch Dany Heatly ever coming to the Leafs while Brain Burke is GM. Burke basically said "The minute a player comes to me and demands a trade, they don't even get to finish their sentence"

The next CBA will see the end of guaranteed contracts, meaning teams can dump players at will with no buyouts. No way in hell will the players ever agree to that. The players only have to look to the NFL players experience with the elimination (for the most part) of the guaranteed contract, older players get dropped at the drop of a hat with no penalty.
Of course some teams get around *that* by front loading the players deal, gee just like the NHL is doing now

| Sure they will, the League will sit them out another year and a whole bunch of us will *again* swear off hockey forever. I came back because the product on the ice was so vastly superior than pre lockout and I'll likely come back again if it helps keep ticket prices from rising further and the sanctity of our game secure. As it stands, we've come full circle with owners and GM who are again signing lavish and ludicrous multi year contracts and it is again starting to hurt the league.
$63M over 12 years twice? For 2 Eurpopeans who haven't had much playoff success to speak of for a good while now? I smell another lockout coming and once again I'll be siding with ownership. -- THINK! It is not illegal yet. UNIONS: The people who brought you WEEKENDS. | lol, I missed it too... I was like wtf Phorkster! Slow brain day
Moot points though as that salary cap is going to knee cap the entire league and players are going to end up with paychecks that are 50% in escrow, IIRC they are already 25%. Yup>> »www2.canada.com/calgaryherald/ne···a0507019

| reply to shaner and the player walks away, leaving the team empty handed...the reality is, sometimes, the team doesn't have a choice...in terms of UFA, i can agree, but sometimes teams don't have a choice and have to do what they can to survive. -- Today's motto: Dearly beloved, We are gathered here today to bid farewell to personal responsibility and accountability. |
