Re: [BC] 2wire with wireless enabled slow speeds

There is a setting within the wireless to "choke" the speed of the wireless. Try to adjust that to see if it changes the issue. That is all I have, it is weak, but I try.

I have a similar problem as the OP and I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions too.

I have the 2Wire with wireless enabled and it worked fine for a long time until yesterday. At first, I thought it was Telus doing maintenance/upgrades/what not.

If it helps, I called yesterday to upgrade to the 6.0 service from 3.0, but according to the rep, it doesn't start 'til the next billing cycle(25th of July).

Thanks

Hi all,

I've seen several postings in the past regarding the 2wire modems and would like to add my posting.

I have the 2wire 2700HG-E model running with the 3 meg service from Telus. I have noticed that whenever I have the wireless option enabled, my download and upload speeds, more so with uploads, are significantly less than optimal (60-100K).

Right after I disable the wireless option, my speedtests will jump back to 330K upload...still not great, but at least my voip soft phone calls do not break up.

Wireless is using WPA with TKIP, so the encryption will take some processing, but I can't see any other options such as just enabling MAC authentication and doing without the encryption.

Anyone else have similar issues? Any ideas to resolve?

Thanks in advance.
