Broadband of Thieves

Hawkflyer1 : I had Vonage for about 4 years. I contracted for 2 phone lines and 1 fax line. The fax service was always unreliable and tech support could never get it right. Phone voice line sound quality was fair at best as many people I spoke with complained that it sounded like I was speaking through a tunnel. The BIG issue came about 6 months ago when I had I failure with my lines as no calls were coming in or out. Using my cell phone and waiting over 30 minutes for tech support to get to me and then I spent an additional 2 hours on the phone with a level one tech that had me pinging the server and doing this and that, only to transfer me to level 2 guy. Level two quickly stated that I had a bad router and that they would ship me a new one arriving in about 2 days. It did arrive as a refurbished unit and I quickly hooked it up and still could not get on line. Another 2 hours spent on my cell phone with tech support determined that this router was bad (right out of the box). I went to Walmart and purchased a new router for $50 dollars and got my phone lines quickly up and running that same day. One month later I receive a Vonage bill for and additional $120.00. I call them and find out the bill is for the broken router that I did not return (they never told me that I needed to return it). I told them that I would return the router and they needed to refund my money. They simply said NO because it was over their thirty-day time limit and that they would not refund my money. When I told the service agent that I was unhappy with this situation she simply asked if I wanted to be transferred to service disconnect department. What a joke. I wasn’t ready to disconnect until I got another service lined up and I think they play on this fact. I finally got the refund as result of dogged persistence and 5 angry calls to Vonage customer service and then only after I sent them the router at my shipping expense. That was the only excuse I needed to change services. I will never go back and I will never recommend Vonage to anyone.
