I still received the signal and could watch the programs, but there was no station or program info.
I did a system restart by holding in the power button for a while and...lo and behold I saw the gears and the download progress bar. Hmmm.
After it finished this d/l and restarted all the channel info was visible, but I once again had to go into the Uverse menu to reset the screen aspect back to 1080i in order to return to the quality HD picture.
Any info on this 'second' update??? The first one had shown up on our second TV so that we could control all aspects of the DVR, so I'm wondering what this one did.

Some people don't seem to understand that if you can record from a remote set top box (RSTB), then you essentially have play/pause/rewind for live TV. It is a few extra steps, but it works.

I actually had been bringing my laptop into the RSTB room to watch TV. I just went to the uverse website and clicked RECORD on whatever channel we were watching. Then i went to RECORDED shows and started playback. Now they have the UVERSE app on the iphone/ipod so i just use that instead.

I didn't experience this issue at all during my upgrade. I have 3 HDTVs and all STB's retained their settings for 1080i/720p. It could have been a one off issue. What kind of STB's do you have? Motorola or Cisco boxes? No, my wife had not made any changes...she's not technically savvy. Whatever is on the screen looks fine to her. I found that the UVerse had set the HD to 480p, so that went back to 1080i, which helped, but the screen still doesn't look as crisp as before.
Has anyone else experienced this??

Agree. I pretty much do the same thing from main STB when I want to watch a show in "near real time" sans commercials. I record it and start watching show/game 15 minutes later. The same limitation as watching any live streams. Being able to "pause" shouldn't limit the number of live streams but it won't get you any more either.
