 | Wireless rookie Hi guys. I'm setting up a wireless internet connection for my desktop. I'm in a relatively hilly area and the tower is about 2.5 miles away as the crow flies. At&T will probably end up being my ISP and an antenna is a real possiblity. My question is, given these parameters, which air card would give me the best bang for my buck? Thanks in advance for your input |

 | You will probably want a card with an external antenna jack, and an external antenna. I've noticed that a lot of the aircards available from ATT no longer have external jacks, so choose carefully. I use a Sierra 860 and a small Wilson panel antenna from my days with Cingular (pre-ATT takeover) and it works nicely as a backup wireless connection for my LAN.

 | I will probably buy my own card, since AT&T is so proud of theirs. That way I avoid the whole contract thing. Besides, given the way things are going, once I get this up and running the telco and cableco (who have been ignoring us as fast as they can) will no doubt be beating down my door. Thanks for the info. |
