Re: Firmware upgrade failure

I've already contacted them but... common answer...

2wire answered:

When I've opened the modem I saw some kind of data port on the front of the board, so I think there must be a connector with a rs232 port for example to re-flash it. Maybe someone knows?

Yeah, that port must be for flashing but I don't think it's RS232. Since it's a 1701 and that's an older platform, you might want to get the 2701 since it does have the ADSL2+ and improvements in hardware. Just watch out for the power supply. If you can, get one with the 3A output and you'll be golden.

For now I see the large problem with power supplies for 2wire. I have some 2A 5V power and 5 1701hg's to work with: 3 - fully operational on adsl2+ modulation, 1 - dead after firmware upgrade and 1 more - constantly rebooting after some workout and doesn't support ADSL2+ modulation. They are all on the same firmware and from one production line. So I try to find out the problem.
So to my problem I still want to find the way to re-flash it using the other method except of web gui. The second thing I wanna do is to enable ssh or telnet daemon. Is there any possibility to add telnet support?
