Re: [Newsgroups] Searching UseNet Question? What makes the Diffe said by EvilByDesire:not as of right now, but things change, and alls im saying is be prepared when/if it does.. You've heard of nzb newsgroups, right? If so, WHY do you think those will disappear? They are (or could be) entirely independent of any "nzb website"... |

What i mean is that the old way of using headers and sorting for your self and not using nzbs.. -- ...Wicked Night Demon... |

Your "might" statements regarding nzb and torrent *files* seem to be more FUD-oriented than anything else. |

It really isn't that difficult if you know what your doing, like you said. Quite fun actually. If all the free nzb sites or even all of them disapppeared I don't think it would be that big of a deal. I just go back to the old fashion way! Yah, but old fashion way = more work.. I embrace things that make it quick.. we can't go back to the old fashion way.. it's travelling backwards.. but we could use newsgroups to create.. NZB's only.. which probably exist I just haven't looked at e'm.. (not probably heavily used at this time either) you better learn the old way, only time will tell when nzb sites go away.. And it not learning backwards, its learning how to do it the correct way.. Yep. It was how usenet was meant to be used that way not everyone and their brother knows how to do it. The more attention a file sharing method gets the worst it is. |

 | reply to EvilByDesire A defined standard for the content and formatting of a text file might go away?
I'll go out on a limb here and say 'never'. |

We used to have download headers.. (obviously some still do..) we used to not have PAR's where we would have to beg the poster for a repaired file.. way back in the day I believe we didn't have MIME or PNG
Things have been advancing nicely as far as I'm concerned.. newsleecher, par and rar auto extraction and NZB are all breakthroughs not to mention Newzbin catching 70-80% and saving much time on your life for data collection..
Even if newzbin dies.. I don't think NZB is going away.. seems well entrenched by posters.. and posters make usenet what it is.. if it does go away it will have to be replaced by a better system..
As for the idea of a "Fear" sell on filesharing via usenet ending.. I'll take a pass on that.. your welcome to think what you like.. |
