Re: [DSL] dsl modem config The Modem should have a Web Interface that you enter by opening a Browser and typing the Default Gateway IP listed on your PC that you can find (if you don't already know it) by running the "IPCONFIG /ALL" command in a DOS Command Box.

What does your PC show when connected only to the Modem as the Default Gateway IP? -- Whats the point of owning a supercar if you cant scare yourself stupid from time to time? |

 | I already tried that, and also what the manufacture says to use to access it. i think u have to install the software first or use a usb cable |

The detailed instructions start at Page 19 in the above attached User Guide.

Or Java Script is blocked or a Pop Up Blocker is running preventing the Pop Up of the login box where you type your Username/Password to gain access to the Web Interface in the Modem.
What Browser are you using to try to access the Modem at »192.168.1.1
What error message or result page do you get when you type the »192.168.1.1 IP into your Browser and click go or press enter?
I've setup hundreds upon hundreds of DSL Modems and when people can't connect there is usually a configuration error, or the Modem was not fully reset by the procedure outlined in the User Guide, or there is a Firewall issue blocking, or there is a Web Browser incompatibility issue/Script Blocking issue.
Post the LAN Adapter settings, the TCP/IP Property settings and the LAN properties.
Here is one settings box that will mess up the IE browser. All 3 should be unchecked.

Try one more reset by the procedure steps listed in the User Guide.
Try a different Browser. I suggest Firefox from here:
Also try these Static LAN settings instead of what you were using.

Good Luck -- Whats the point of owning a supercar if you cant scare yourself stupid from time to time? |

i am interested in a modem that would be compatible with my isp and is really good, i am thining that dlink in the msg above, maybe it would be better/faster lol DSL isn't like Cable where the Modem holds speed settings and configuration settings (nothing to hack in DSL Modems). DSL speeds are controlled/set in the DSLAM locked in a cage or a box and the Modem can only connect at the provisioned port rate set in the DSLAM, so you will not get faster speeds unless you call and order/pay for a faster speed plan. -- Whats the point of owning a supercar if you cant scare yourself stupid from time to time? |

I'd have to say there is another issue as the Firmware holds/stores the PPPoE shim and it holds/stores the Modem code including the Virtual Circuit data aka the VPI/VCI pair. If, and this is a tremendous, huge, super size big if, it would not work with any PPPoE. You likely were trying to set it up while using the Netgear online and that won't work.
You would hook a single PC to the Comtrend and set it up as seen in the User Guide for PPPoE. Reboot the Modem after saving the changes and reboot the PC. Now test to verify all is working before trying to add more PCs. -- Whats the point of owning a supercar if you cant scare yourself stupid from time to time? |

 | i unhooked my netgear router and hooked the comtrend modem to my desktop straight, but still it wouldn't load the config menu |
