Always wondered why NJ was the last out of any area to get anything. |

Could have sworn that TCM had a movie in HD today, it was in color, the name is "Bonjour Tristesse" Its aspect ratio was 16x9 widescreen, no pillarboxing. With TCM what I gathered was it will be in OAR for movies, no nonsensical, stetching, zooming, cropping and whatever else some of these networks do to butcher up the picture.
Cartoon Network I don't even watch so wouldn't matter to me
TruTV HD - I'm hardpressed to imagine what they will ever show in HD for a long time to come. |

Plus it would be nice if all Fox and ABC owned channels went to 1080i since 720p is on it's way out. |

1 edit | reply to StudioTech As it stands now, only 16 of the HD channels before the new additions are in 720p. jpr281 above said Big Ten Network HD is in 720p so that'll make 17. We know the rest of the premium movie channels will be in 1080i as well as TCM HD and MSNBC HD. Even if the rest were in 720p, it's still a small chunk.
1080i is where it's at and has been going. |

1 edit | Yes that's what I meant above with the Fox and ABC owned networks statement. If only they'd get on the ball and convert to 1080i.
What would be even better if all the networks went to 1080p. What DirecTV is doing with On-Demand titles is a start.

What's the likelyhood of Cablevision doing that anytime soon? |

You need to do some research each and everytime you post.
These decisions are made based on what is broadcast.
Sports tend to look better in 720p since it results in smoother video and less ghosting for fast moving images. 1080i is used for crisper images, especially in slow moving landscape images shown on channels like Discovery. Just because there are more 1080i channels out there doesn't mean 720p is getting phased out.
The bigger question is why would you care if they kept both formats? What's your beef with 720p? |
