BTN is co-owned by Fox (News Corp) so it's consistent with them, not to meniton sports look better in 720p, which is why it's not going to go away.
Don't expect a cable op to offer 1080p with the current technology. Ever. Satellite providers compress 1080p so much it doesn't matter anyway. |

| Yes I know Sports tend to look better in 720p and yes I knew that what was decisions based on what they broadcast along with the ghosting issue.
My point was that eventually all of it will move to 1080i or way further down the line whenever 1080p doesn't look like tetris. While 720p has it's good points with what you stated, technology down the line will correct the ghosting issues along with crisper pictures. |

Could have sworn that TCM had a movie in HD today, it was in color, the name is "Bonjour Tristesse" Its aspect ratio was 16x9 widescreen, no pillarboxing. With TCM what I gathered was it will be in OAR for movies, no nonsensical, stetching, zooming, cropping and whatever else some of these networks do to butcher up the picture. Cartoon Network I don't even watch so wouldn't matter to me TruTV HD - I'm hardpressed to imagine what they will ever show in HD for a long time to come. "Bonjour Tristesse" is a 2.35:1 film and if it's true it was shown in 16:9, then it was cropped in some way or your set is set to zoom or stretch in some manner. This movie, on a 16:9 screen, should be letterboxed. I'm guessing TCM is not cropping as it always shows films in their original form, from what I've seen. |

Yeah it was letter boxed, I kind of hastily highlighted it was in 16x9 Widescreen, meaning to imply it didn't have the pillarbars, and thankfully all their films will be presented in OAR |

I recently got a HD capture device and I can't wait to record a few of the old classics on TCM-HD. I guess I'll have to wait till Friday (Oakland, NJ System). |

| reply to mws192 IIRC from when I had DirecTV, the Big Ten Network encompasses something like 5 or 10 channels during the college football season, each dedicated to covering the games being played by a school in the conference. Will CV pick up each of those alternates, or will those alternates only show up if you pay for the college football "Gameday" package (or whatever its called)? Does anyone know? |

Question of the week for me. No announcements so far. They will not be included in Gameplan, as that only showcases games ESPN has rights to.
Big Ten Network offers the overflow channels to cable operaters for 'an additional fee' but no operator has ever offered the overflow's on a PPV basis. So we'll either get them, or we won't.
Also not boding well for us is the fact that not many (if any really) cable operators offer them in areas outside the Big Ten states.
I sent an email to the BTN (no response) and to CV. The CV response was:
Please be advised that information about the overflow games is not yet available. You can check on this by going to our web-site at www.optimum.com and refer to the channel guide there for any replacement of overflow games.
I apologize for the inconvenience. Also, the most games ever on at one time has historically been 5, so it's 4 overflow feeds depending on the week and what's shown on the Disney channels (ABC, ESPN, ESPN2).
Here's the schedule for the first three weeks of the season: »www.bigtennetwork.com/sports/foo···=3301406 Week 1 has 5 games on at noon. |

1 edit | So in all likelihood we'll be getting only 1 or 2 Big Ten games per week during the season. That's too bad, as a Minnesota Vikings fan and having that network the past few years on DTV, I ended up enjoying watching many Gophers and Badgers games.
Edit: Do you know if the main network plays reruns of the various other games during the week? That wouldn't be bad. |

1 edit | said by KCrimson :So in all likelihood we'll be getting only 1 or 2 Big Ten games per week during the season. There should be at least two a week on the main channel, a noon and a 7pm late game, either 3:30 or 7. Although I'm not sure why there's no late game on September 19th (Edit, looks like a Jewish holiday?)
There's a coverage map on the BTN website that will list what's available in our area once the season rolls around. »www.bigtennetwork.com/GameFinder/ |

| reply to mws192 That website has not been updated with Cablevision information as of yet. So you'll need to use a FIOS ZIP code if there is one nearby, but since FIOS is split up into huge regions and not local head ends like Cablevision, their lineup is most probably going to be slightly different than what we have available to us. |

| TCM HD still has "No Data Available."
And what about half of the channels don't have the little logo next to the channel # and ID. It just looks very sloppy that half of them have a picture and half don't, like it was just thrown together with no preparation. |
