No, no TCM in HD here yet. I'm hoping it won't be too long as even old widescreen films from the 50's on look great in HD.
Here's an old 1963 film (The Nutty Professor) that was on AMC-HD, and if you ask me, it never looked better (Stella Stevens, too!). :-)

well, the reason why i mentioned starwars clonewars is that at the start of each episode it says "available in hd"...i was hoping that cartoonnetwork hd would show it in true hd..or at least in proper widescreen :(

Question of the week for me. No announcements so far. They will not be included in Gameplan, as that only showcases games ESPN has rights to.

Big Ten Network offers the overflow channels to cable operaters for 'an additional fee' but no operator has ever offered the overflow's on a PPV basis. So we'll either get them, or we won't.

Also not boding well for us is the fact that not many (if any really) cable operators offer them in areas outside the Big Ten states.

I sent an email to the BTN (no response) and to CV. The CV response was:

Please be advised that information about the overflow games is not yet available. You can check on this by going to our web-site at www.optimum.com and refer to the channel guide there for any replacement of overflow games.

I apologize for the inconvenience.
Also, the most games ever on at one time has historically been 5, so it's 4 overflow feeds depending on the week and what's shown on the Disney channels (ABC, ESPN, ESPN2).

Could have sworn that TCM had a movie in HD today, it was in color, the name is "Bonjour Tristesse" Its aspect ratio was 16x9 widescreen, no pillarboxing. With TCM what I gathered was it will be in OAR for movies, no nonsensical, stetching, zooming, cropping and whatever else some of these networks do to butcher up the picture.

You need to do some research each and everytime you post.

These decisions are made based on what is broadcast.

Sports tend to look better in 720p since it results in smoother video and less ghosting for fast moving images. 1080i is used for crisper images, especially in slow moving landscape images shown on channels like Discovery. Just because there are more 1080i channels out there doesn't mean 720p is getting phased out.

While that is true, it is marketed as "CNBC HD+", since none of it's programming is in HD. It uses the extra onscreen space to provide additional graphics and tickers.

Could have sworn that TCM had a movie in HD today, it was in color, the name is "Bonjour Tristesse" Its aspect ratio was 16x9 widescreen, no pillarboxing. With TCM what I gathered was it will be in OAR for movies, no nonsensical, stetching, zooming, cropping and whatever else some of these networks do to butcher up the picture.
