Unseen join:2002-12-13 Plano, TX | Just ordered Fiber BUT Verizon speed changes Monday!? Hello,
I just ordered Fiber Ultra package online. Then I login into DSL reports to hear of Verizon Speed upgrades coming on Monday! I am wondering if I will getting new packages speed Verizon will be releasing or old 20/20 one?
Also is there any way for me to change/cancel my order that I just placed? Depending on what speed are in package I might want to switch another one (maybe go down one tier).
Thanks |

If you are indeed in an area where FIOS is available, these are VZ's new speed tiers effective 6/21.
10/2 -> 15/5 (all service areas) 20/5 -> 25/15 (all service areas) 20/20 -> upgraded to 35/20 in NYC only 50/20 -> No change
The upgrade is not automatic. Since DSL Extreme handles your billing and support, they will need to handle requesting the upgrade for you. |

And the 20/20 packages doesn't seem to be getting a upgrade except in NYC?> Kind of weird since the 25/15 seems to beat it now download wise.
Anyhow I am in Murphy, TX not in Columbia, MO. |

If you've ordered 20/20, then your question is academic, as there is no upgrade for 20/20 (except in NYC). |

1 edit | reply to Unseen Speed increases for DSLX Fiber Optics may OR may not be available depending on the contract DSLX has with Verizon for reselling their FiOS.
I've seen that happen with Earthlink DSL with Verizon and AT&T provisioned lines in the past. -- TH ~ NE ~ EPN ~ NC ~ TD |

 | reply to Unseen I hope DSL EXTREME also gets the new FIOS tiers. Any news on this? |

Unfortunately the Telcos aren't the fastest moving so I can't give you a specific time frame of when we will have more information. As of this point there isn't any indication of immediate changes.
I will keep you posted as I have additional updates. |

Either way I'm ditching cable this year to either Verizon or DSLX |

 | reply to Unseen I'm still interested in any news of DSLX upgrading their fiber packages to the new FIOS tiers. |

Unseen join:2002-12-13 Plano, TX | reply to Unseen Well, I got my DSL extreme 20/20 connected on Friday. The verizon tech showed up and connected that. However, the highest speed I am getting is 20/10ish. I haven't gotten a bit over 10 mbps upload nowhere near the 20 Mbps. Wonder if somehow verizon's speed changes messed up DSL extreme's speeds?

1) Did the tech run the FIOS speed optimizer on your system? If not use this link: »www.verizon.net/central/vzc.port···Id=15734 The optimizer helps mostly with download speed.
2) Check out this link for setting your send window size: »Re: [northeast] Which speed test is most accurate for Fios?
3) It is possible the upload side was provisioned incorrectly at 10Mbps. You will need to contact DSLX if this is the case. |
|
 | reply to Unseen That's funny. Neither Verizon nor DSLx offers any pkg with 10mbps upload. |

 | Any update on whether DSLx is getting the new speeds provisioned? I need to make a jump one way or the other pretty soon. |
