Search here to find out if we have the mobile phone
number of your contact.

If we do, we text them with your details so they can call
you back. We never give out the mobile numbers of
people in our directory to protect privacy.

You will be charged £1 for the text to be sent, but it's free
for your contact.
For more information.

I've searched the database and not been able to find any numbers belonging to anyone I know.

Connectivity tried to get the mobile numbers from the phone companies who refused to part with the data so they had to buy it from market research and premium rate companies (»www.theregister.co.uk/2009/06/12···threats/). I don't get marketing/nuisance calls on my mobile so I assume that is why I'm not in the directory. Opting out of the directory means I'd have to give them my number

To Plagiarise Money Saving Expert:
A new directory enquiries service, 118 800, has launched charging a shocking £1 per search for mobile numbers. This means if people want to contact you via it they can (they pay £1) it won't give out your number but will send a text to you with that persons details. more here: »forums.moneysavingexpert.com/sho···22515361

However, by default, you will be populating the database if not already on there, making their data far more valuable! Catch 22 if ever there was one.

For unsolicited marketing calls, then use the Telephone Preference Service (TPS) register here:

TPS has sister services FPS and MPS (dig about on the site)

In my experience, this cuts out 99% of all unsolicited calls, faxes and Mail shots. Of the odd 1% that does get through, just reference TPS and watch how fast they hang up!

Re: To all mobile phone users (URGENT)

TPS is exellent. It's cut our number of sales calls dramatically.

There's only one which gets through and that's BT. We're with BT but don't want to hear their sales spiel so I've reported them to the TPS for making unsolicited marketing calls. I don't suppose anything will happen but if they keep calling I'll keep reporting

This is how to deal with BT though »[NWS] How do YOU deal with telemarketers?

Edit:

We ran out of dial tone and we're and waiting for the phone company to deliver another bottle.
That came up when I made my last edit but I think it was stolen from the book of BT's random excuses.
