Looks like the announcement is announced...

»forums.verizon.com/vrzn/board/me···9#M11529

Verizon will be upgrading speeds Starting Monday 6/22

(1) What speeds are available and where?
10/2 -> 15/5 (all service areas)
20/5 -> 25/15 (all service areas)
20/20 -> upgraded to 35/20 in NYC only
50/20 -> No change

(2) Will it be an automatic upgrade? Or will I need to call?
It will not be an Automatic upgrade. It will be just like last year however there may be a pricing change of $5-10 more check with your local Billing rep on for exact amounts. You can reach them through 888-553-1555 and following the billing prompts for a representative.

(3) When can I call and what should I say?
You can call on Monday and ask to be upgraded to the higher speed and rebundle.

(4) How much will the upgrade cost?
The best person to ask would be the Verizon Billing office on Monday. However if you only had internet service and are month to month the upgrade is free since that price hasn't changed. This will also be a 1 year Terms of Service agreement

(5) Can I get the upgrade if have just have an Internet+phone bundle? How about Internet+TV bundles?

you can get the upgrade if you have a bundle or not

==========================================

I'll be calling Monday...

Sorry, mentioning this fluff thing again so any discussion related to it can continue in this thread from the other.

I'm hoping someone from Verizon can definitively explain this "fluff" thing and what it really means. I really hope it's not something like powerboost!

Tee hee, more proof that all Vz employees are not told the same thing (the OP was quoting a Vz employee)

I'm curious to know the details behind this "fluff" too. Sounds to me more like increased overhead or something.

On a side note: Speed tests indicate that I've lost up to 2 mbps only on my download side but upload is the same. What's the deal?

I'll be curious to see what the price increase is from my 20/20 triple play bundle, currently $99.95/month, to the 35/20 with a triple play bundle. If it is not much, I may get that extra 15 Mbps down. Wished Verizon had upped the ante with Cablevision though and put out a package to compete with OOL Ultra. I'm sure they will eventually.

They probably competing with boost users that is 30/5 tier.

They not going to do 100Mb yet cause of the $300 activaton fee to get the Ultra plan on cable maybe when the fee gets lower then verizon will plan it.

I wonder if I can downgrade my second tier down to first tier.

I believe when I started, my second tier was 15/2 or something and now their first tier is 15/5.

I don't need 25/15.

That doesn't even make sense...

Why wouldn't the 20/20 tier change?

There has to obviously be a price increase for the current 20/5 people to go to 25/15 or else the 20/20 people are getting screwed...

There is a $5 to $10/mo increase for bundle customers to jump from 20/5 to 25/15. The amount of the increase varies by area and plan.

Customers with 20/20 are free to change their plan. If you prefer 25/15, you can switch with a call on Monday. Customers always have the freedom to change their tier; customers are never locked into a certain tier.

Some people feel that the extra 5Mbps upload is worth a premium. Others do not. Verizon lets you decide.

I'm hoping they will decide to offer the 35/20 in other competitive areas.

Over here in Edmonds, WA, I'm currently subscribed to the Triple Play Plan for $99/month. My internet speed is 10/2. I called them and asked how much it would cost to get the upgrade to 15/5, and they said that it will cost an extra $10/month.

I was so hoping that it was going to be for free, oh well.

I currently am "grandfathered" in the 30/5, would they be able to give me 30/15?

If 20/5 -> 20/15 then would 30/5 -> 30/15?

I also have the 10/2 in my triple play. They won't upgrade you to the new minimum speed of 15/5 for free!?! Well that ticks me off. I was planning to call on Monday for the "free upgrade" after reading these posts over the past several days. That's what I get for listening to rumor and speculation.

Well, the price differs from state to state. So, you just might be lucky. Furthermore, the person I spoke to said that the prices were "tentative," but I didn't ask for an explantion.

Ever since I got Fios in August of last year I always get 24-25 Mb/s on the upload (20/20 package). My download never goes past 19.7, but the upload gets 25% more than it should.

I wonder if I change to the 25/15 if I'll end up getting 20 up lol...
