Thanks for pointing out those bad links. I've updated the links on the page and in the ReadMe. I've also added a note on using IE-SPYAD with Internet Explorer 8.0.

Best,

Eric L. Howes
Thanks to you Eric !!

Keep up the good work !

Funkytoad is the programmer of Zoned out

Eric Howes (member here) is more associated with spywarewarrior »www.spywarewarrior.com/uiuc/main-nf.htm

I may be wrong, but I've always thought of it as ZonedOut is the Interface (GUI) and IESpyAd contained the actual block list.
I would set my systems up using ZonedOut with Eric's list from IESpyAd
Hi Rxdoxx,

I'm not sure why you think that things have changed.
IE-SPYAD is the list from Eric.
ZonedOut is the tool from funkytoad to put Eric's list in the right "place".
As far as I know that has been the case for quite some time now since Eric's old IE-SPYAD with the regfiles was abonded.

BTW, some remarks:
1.
Eric's site »www.spywarewarrior.com/uiuc/reso···SPYAD_ZO

I think some things have to be updated there.
For example: for ZonedOut it gives:

I think it is now:

2.
ZonedOut site:
For IE8 it says:
quote:
Internet Explorer 8 is not behaving well with large quantities of Restricted Sites.
I do not recommend installing IE-SPYADS if you are running IE8

I thought that that issue was more or less fixed with the latest IE update.

Thanks.

From your link, it looks like Eric Howes is tweaking things beyond what I was used to in the version I used from funkytoad.
Hi Rxdoxx,

May I kindly ask you what you mean?
I'm afraid that I don't understand it.
Thanks in advance!

  IE-SPYAD Restricted Sites List
Last Updated: Jun 19 '09

Please Note: the original IE-SPYAD format that used .REG files to load and unload the Restricted Sites list is no longer available and will not be maintained. The same holds true for IE-SPYAD2. Both are replaced by what used to be called IE-SPYAD for ZonedOut. ZonedOut is a free utility that loads and unloads a plain text list of domains into the Restricted sites zone. You can think of ZonedOut as an improved replacement for the .BAT file utility used in the "original" IE-SPYAD. This new version of IE-SPYAD provides the same protection as the old version, but is easier to use and maintain.

More Info: IE-SPYAD

Please remember to re-immunize with SpywareBlaster & Spybot S&D.
Some items considered non-threats or defunct are disabled by IE-Spyad.
