Hughesnet HN 9000 ethernet connection up/down

I have a Hughesnet HN 9000 modem connected directly to my PC via an ethernet cable. I have an on-going problem whereby the ethernet connection goes down and immediately comes back up. Sometimes it is every few seconds and other times less frequently. The LAN connectivity green light on the back of the modem goes out and then back on. I have replaced the cable with a new one - no difference. I have tested the ethernet connection on the back of my PC by placing an ethernet loopback plug into it and pinging my self overnight. It did not fail once. The logs in the HN 9000 show nothing. Has anyone ever had this problem? Anyone have any ideas whats wrong?
Thanks

Don't think I have seen that problem before.

Go here and download the 9000 user and installation guides and look at the networking parts.

I would also re run the network wizard if you have not done that.

I would also suspect some sort of firewall problem also.
Does it do it with the firewall off.

Thanks for the reply. I have been through all those manuals - no help. I have called Hughesnet customer service - what a joke! I have tried with my firewall off and my protection software off - no change. I have run the network wizard again. I have reloaded my ethernet driver - no change. I asked Hughesnet via e-mail how to get a new HN 9000. I got the standard "canned" response.

Looks like you have done everything i know.

You might try a re registration. That would reset all the firmware and keys.

Probably won't fix it but you never know.

Be advised this will take about 30 minutes.

The modem will shut down and then reload all data from the NOC.

Ain't for the faint of heart.

O.k. I clicked on "use values from last successful installation" and nothing happened. I then clicked on "reset to unmodified values" and nothing happened. Is there a trick here?
Thanks

Should have started when you clicked use values from last installation.

DO NOT click the other two options unless you know the values and have an OPI device.

Just does not do anything except the screen flickers once when I click on it. Think I got a bad modem?

I'd be AWFUL CAREFUL before I reset a HN9000 modem to any defaults . .

This will most likely cause an "ANTENNA POINTING" process to have to take place...

and unless you have a DAPT tool, and you're a tech, your modem will not boot up to STATE CODE 25 ! ! ! !

Just caught this post. This is a known not-too-uncommon failure with the 9000 boxes. I've replaced a a number of them for no other reason than this lan issue. Hope this helps.

Thanks to all for the help. Got the problem solved a few days ago. I FINALLY talked Hughes net second level support to replace the modem.
