How many of us use DVR's exclusively (no other receiver)?

Years ago (2002-2003) ... I decided to purchase 4 DVR's to record my Dish Network programs. The concept seemed great. I've never looked back, and never purchased a non-DVR receiver since.

Currently we have 4 DirecTV HR21's and there is no way a standard receiver would work in our home. We are DVR spoiled.

Is anyone else DVR only?

Both of my new Dish 211-K boxes have been outfitted with external hard drives for free DVR service.

So, yes we are 100% DVR as well.

We have just a single fios DVR. There's been a few times that i've considered adding a second non-DVR for the TV in the bedroom, but we rarely watch live tv on it and usually just stream video from the HTPC that we haven't gotten a second receiver, let alone DVR.

cable should allow 1 dvr fee per house, but charge for each box.

Re: How many of us use DVR's exclusively (no other receiver)?

cable does not per house fees they have high per box fees and some systems have HD cable card fees on top of outlet and cable card rent.(some systems)
they need to drop the outlet fee that is build into each box.

Three DVR's in our house, no receivers on D*. But I do have an OTA TV in the kitchen with no D* service.

We got 2 TiVos 6 years ago and have never watched a show in real time since.

Watching TV at my parent's house in real time is excruciating.

I guess I am the only holdout.

5 Panasonic VCRs(4 to tape with and 1 to watch on.)

Also one DVD to watch rented movies on with two TV/DVD combinations for the wife to watch her Nikta, Bones, NCIS and MacGyver cds on.

DVR spoiled too.

We will watch stuff occasionally OTA, but it really sucks not to be able to rewind or pause.

Well I only have one receiver though shared to three rooms.... but yes DISH was first 501, then 721, recently forced free swap to 522 DVR. (Though 522 seems more TIVO like than the 721.... but due tro that lawsuit) And though 522 is dual location capable... single person household so it is used exclusively in SINGLE mode, both tuners always available. (VS 2 single tuner DVR's in one box it is in DUAL output mode)

We have two TVs in the house and both have had DVRs connected to them since 2002. Started off with the pathetic poor excuses for a DVR, Dish 501/508 then went with the DirecTiVo, then got a couple Explorer 8300HDs from Time Warner, I couldn't imagine watching TV without a DVR, seems so prehistoric. All VCRs were taken to down to the road for the garbagemen years ago.

I have never used a DVR in my life. Last time I recorded a TV show I used a VCR and that was in around 1992.

I have 5 TV's but 2 HD-DVR's on 2 TV's. I've only used TWC DVR's so I can't compare it over Tivo. One Samsung 3270 in the other room hooked up to 20" SDTV but the main HDTV has a 8300HDC. The Samsung does have a 320 GB HDD . I do enjoy having the DVR. 2 of the other TV's have Samsung 3260 HD boxes even though one of them is a 13" SD TV/VCR combo. I do agree that DVR is a great way to watch TV. Especially the ability to REW and FF live TV. I love to FF the commercials while watching recorded TV.
