| reply to hacked Im in the Yonge and Finch Area and I have been having the same problem for almost 3 weeks now. My Speedtouch Lights are all on, solid green (except for Ethernet which blinks occassionally). As soon as the problem starts, I receive packet loss for about 30 seconds and then the PPOE session is lost. Anywhere from 2 - 30 minutes, my router will continuously try to establish a PPOE session, but it will always timeout. It usually takes a while before it starts up again.
Anyways, I have been in constant communication with the support team over the past 3 weeks.
At first they thought it was my equipment. After a couple of days trying different combinations (i.e. putting it in routed mode and back to bridge mode (using vista as a PPOE client) and then on a different router), I was convinced it wasnt my equipment.
Second time around, they thought they had fixed it. Bell technician went to the central office and "did something" (they were unable to see what they did in the ticket). It worked for 1 day.
3rd Time around, they supposedly fixed a line card. It worked for 72 hours without a problem.
4th time around, it was a Bell network issue in the 416. So far (knock on wood), my connection has been stable for the past 12 hours.
I hope this is the last time I experience this issue. I am getting extrememly fustrated. If this continues, I will certainly go back to rogers. --------------------------- Here is an example of what my router was doing during the issue. Sample Log File. | reply to hacked I am have the exactly the same problem. I also live in the Yonge/Finch area.
It seemed to be up last night ... but when I got up this morning, my modem had to be rebooted for the connection to come live again.
I am sick and tired of dealing with this for the past 3 weeks. Teksavvy please get this dealt with and re-reimburse us the appropriate amount for this unacceptable downtime. |

| reply to hacked Hi all,
First time posting... I'm having exactly the same problem as describe above in the Montreal region. My connection have been working 100% fine for the last 2 or 3 months and now all suddenly my modem and router doesn't seem to be able to communicate.
I follow the exact same path as describe by Jay G Vee but still I can't setup my router to connect over a PPPoE connection. All the light on the modem are solid green (except for flashing Ethernet) and I'm getting a error saying that I've got limited connectivity.
Phone several times customer service (which actually did help me a lot) and Bell came to fix something with the box. Now I'm getting 70% downtime and I can't use my wireless connection.
I'm not sure if other people encounter this problem but apparently I'm not able to connect to my router IP address. Everytime I try I'm getting an time out message.
This is kind of frustrating but now I realize I'm not alone, most likely it is going to be solve for all of us shortly. |

61.151.254.xxx is from China Telecom. See: »www.robtex.com/cnet/61.151.254.html Someone hacking from China??

Who is VILLALTA.CA and why are they trying to offer you PPPoE session?
>[INFO] Sat Jun 27 21:54:46 2009 Offer received for INTERNET PPPoE Session, service offered is DIR-655 from bas2-toronto47 (00901AA0AA01)
That resulted in a connection. |

| reply to Jay G Vee The router log seems to have been (poorly) sorted (backwards). I would prefer to work with a log in its original time sequence, especially when the times are not unique.
You wrote:
"my router will continuously try to establish a PPOE session, but it will always timeout" but show a single connection attempt episode that succeeded in half a minute! What am I missing here?
It dould be useful to post the modem's log for the same episode? ( systemlog show )
Are there multiple PPP configs set up and both enabled? On purpose?
(I doubt that those who say "I have the same problem" have "the same" problem. If they did, and if they posted specifics, we would have some real data to help diagnose what the think is a single problem.)
Perhaps one of the many with the same problem has a decent router or PPP client that logs protocol-aware messages. Tomato, for example, will log
"Received LCP Termination Request" or "LCP Appears to be Disconnected". It's not much, but "PADT received" or not could be a start.
In any case, unless modem loses sync (DSL), "Internet Line Drops" is not exactly what happens. If the PPP session terminates frequently without DSL problems, then one would want to ascertain whether this happens regardless of the PPP client, its platform, and what else runs on it.
If it does happen frequently, it should be easy to isolate the cause.

| reply to hacked My connection has been dropping with unusual frequency (almost daily) lately as well.
I'm paying more attention to it now and I'll try to get useful logs/info when it happens again.
I think last time it happened (9pm last night) I lost sync according to DMT. |

| reply to planiwa The entries are a direct copy and paste of what my DIR-655 had logged. When speaking to Teksavvy, they were surprised to see that my Router was trying to authenticate eventhough I was already connected.
Thats why they originally thought it was my equipment and could explain why the entries are out of place. I had tried swtiching to routed mode and tried with the modem as my PPOE client and then as VISTA as my PPOE Client however in all instances, it on kept happening - the PPOE disconnects.
Well, I am happy to report that my connection has finally been fixed (so I hope). After speaking to teksavvy on and off for 3.5 weeks, they finally fixed it. Ever since they corrected that major 416 authentication outage on Monday and since they enabled error correction on my profile, it has been stable ever since. It has been almost 6 days now.
Don't know what to reccommend to those still experiencing the problem - perhaps just be persistent and keep calling into Teksavvy - eventually they will find the source. |
