should i switch to Teksavvy?

I'm currently on Rogers Express but I hate the 60gig cap, I keep going over my limit. The speed isn't really an issue to me going from 10MB to 5MB. So I've thinking about switching over to TekSavvy.

I have a question:

Is there anyway to check if I will get full download speed of 5MB if I switch over to Teksavvy? While I don't mind the downgrade from 10MB to 5MB, I still wish to get the full 5MB download speed. My problem is if I switch over it will be a permanent switch without turning back.

I know the speed depends on how close you are to the CO, is there a way I can check how close I am to one?

I live in the downtown Toronto area, near the Eaton Centre. Parliament and Dundas.

This tool will show you where your co is, However the path the wires take isn't always very direct.

If Teksavvy says you will get 5meg you probably will.

Bell told Teksavvy my home line could only handle 512K service, I found this funny since at the time I had my bell line at synced at 5megs.

In short you really won't know till you sign up and theres a ton of things that can effect your line. The biggest being distance second biggest being poor internal wiring.

edit: I am about 4.2KM from the central office here and can handle up to around 8.2megs on the fax line and 7.8 on the home line.

The fact that you currently have Rogers makes your life that much easier than if you had Bell...

Sign up for TSI, and set Rogers to cancel such that you have at least a two-week overlap where you'll have both connections (Rogers may need 30 days notice)

With Teksavvy there is no contract beyond the first month...so if it doesn't work out that's all you'll be on the hook for...

Those are normal speeds for the 5 meg profile.
