Re: Help me become pingable..

What router and modem are you using?

Have you tried calling your ISP to see if they block pings?

If an ISP blocks pings is that bad for online gaming, or does it matter?
I have a speedstream 4200 ohio modem with a D-Link WBR-2310 router.

Although I am not a gamer, a ninja ( fourboxers See Profile) told me that blocking pings doesn't affect online gaming.

I found this that might help:

Seeing that I am not a gamer and have never used a DLink router, I'm going to let someone else answer that for you.

A little late but Welcome to the site.

Have you tried asking your ISP if they are blocking pings?

A couple threads about gaming mode.
»What is Gaming mode on Dlink WBR-2310 router?
»Gaming Mode - Why does Dlink recommend disabling?

You might want to see if your connection is tweakable
»Posting Rules - Broadband Tweaks
then starting a thread »Broadband Tweaks

Let us know what they say. I've run across 1 ISP that doesn't accept pings but I can't remember which one.

It looks like your router is set to respond to WAN pings. If you are not getting a response to the line quality test request, it could be ISP-blocked pings. Best way to find out is to ask someone to ping your current address.

You are on DSL. Whose? I know that Verizon does not block pings.

IM me with your WAN IP, I'll try.
