Duty only if you ship via crappy carriers like UPS... otherwise it's $5 via the mail. Unfortunately, a lot of people use UPS... but I'll save the UPS-gouging for another day.

Then again, if you're going to make a trip across the border, it may be well worth it. One model versus the dozen or so available across the border.

Plus, there are more models that are pricier but with nicer features (not as plentiful, since they don't qualify for the $40 rebates). Features such as component outputs, digital audio outputs, etc. But hey, it beats buying a new TV. Also, there's better antenna choices across the border, including some powerful signal pullers.

Though, you may want to try going to the US and picking one up there - they may be a fair bit cheaper than $80 Canadian... $50 US I've seen them, or $60 Canadian. There's also wider selection there.
Sadly you'll get nailed on duty and shipping fees, so it wouldn't be beneficial to obtain one from the U.S.

You should be able to find a "Digital Converter Box" (that's their name) at places like Future Shop, Best Buy, The Source, etc.

Here's one at Future Shop ( »www.futureshop.ca/catalog/prodde···id=10012 - if the link doesn't work, search for webid 10118281 ).

This will let you get stuff like KVOS 12 and others. A good outdoor antenna (Probably from the US) will pull in a ton of US channels.

You will probably be able to get these using some sort of antenna. These channels come in pretty clear within the lower mainland.

CBC Channel 2
CHEK Channel 6
Global 8
Citytv 10

Before Feburary you could've probablly got KVOS Channel 12, but they have gone digital along with all the other US stations. Canadian locals expected to go digital on August 31, 2011.

Thanks Anonimuz for the link and tlhIngan for the ATSC tuner info.

Well, I'm in Vancouver, may I know where can I buy "ATSC tuner"? HomeDepo, RadioShack or ?

Thanks and best regards.

Your TV should have an ATSC tuner too, if you want to receive the US channels - they've gone all digital.

If not, you should be able to find an ATSC converter, if you want US channels.

[BC] Basic TV (only one CBC station is enough) without cable?

Can you get TV (only the very basic like CBC) in Vancouver without cable?

I hardly watch TV anymore and all the news are from the internet (running 2 PCs 24/7) and if I want to watch movies, direct streaming from one of my PC, no ads, no waiting and I can do it as and when I want.

Thanks.
