Moving In July 09

By the end of July, we will be residing in Missouri.

The local phone company, The Ozark Phone Co., also has the only DSL service there. They have the following 2 speeds ONLY. Your choice of 2 megs, or for a "paltry" $30.00 more a month, 3 megs!!
Also their TV service is TV over IP, as it comes into your modem for DSL, and goes from there to your TV's (a maximum of 3 is allowed).
So, with this in mind, ya might think about all the complaining of speeds, etc. Because, as you can see, it can be worse!

Check it out, They are called s-go-video in the town we are moving to.

Can you say "DBS or cable company" ? I knew you could...

The DSL itself will be decent, but I sure wouldn't want to try to watch HDTV programming over it...

I know Centurytel has some properties out there. Maybe you should double check with them?

Re: Moving In July 09

While I am no expert about TV over IP, by any means, I would hope it is seperate. But, I don't know if it is, or not. I only know what they have said to me on the phone. And that is, the "signal" comes in through the phone line to the modem. From there, a line from the modem goes to my router for their blazingly fast 3 meg service, and 3 other lines will go to the TV's.

I was thinking of doing the above, purely to save some money each month. As I am currently paying $101.xx for phone, long distance, and internet (5 meg), plus $140.xx for DirectTV (premium package). The phone company in Missouri, where we are moving, will be charging $151.xx for their services.

I will look at their services before deciding which way to go on the TV part.

Here is a URL that explains what they are doing to provide both DSL and TV to their customers. Maybe you all can understand it better than I do.
