It's best for you to contact your Comcast to find out about Changes coming up because Chat Live doesn't now. |

ya, i've found that out. in general, they wouldn't tell you anything that hasn't been published in a newspaper ad or press release anyway, but the chat reps couldn't even answer to what was in those. i actually rely on my local paper's ad search, which isn't 100% reliable, and this forum to find out what's going on. 2 regions (Michigan and the Mid Atlantic) have a website for such communication (a fact that I've criticized Comcast about several times). |

| I do trust what I see in the announcements, but I don't trust that I'm seeing all applicable ones. that's why I'm surprised Comcast, a "communication" company (in the very broad sense of the word), doesn't have a local website for each region for mass communication with the customers. |

| Generally, the kinds of information folks are seeking, when these topics come up, are kinds of information that are not available to the public. If they did have a local website for each region, then someone would complain that it doesn't indicate this-or-that. The issue isn't the scope of information or its organization: The issue is that customers want something even though it is not for them.
I've found that the best source for this type of information are notations printed on your bill. If the information hasn't come to you in that manner, than that often means that the information is not available. Another good source are the printed brochures at the local Comcast office. |

| reply to Mgsports Usually notifications in our area are sent out a month after the service is live. For example, one day, out of the blue there will be a new channel or two. Then a month later it will be advertised.
There was an exception to that in Feb 2008, there was a big lead up to 8 new HD channels. It ended up having a date on the ad, but they were never active until about 2 weeks later. With all the complaints, they've seemed to give up on advertising until the service is live.
This forum is great to see what channels area's are getting. For instance, our area does not carry some stuff like AMC HD, History HD, Animal Planet HD, CNN HD, etc... but knowing Comcast has rights to carry these networks ensures me that one day when our bandwidth problems are resolved, we can expect to see a similar subset of services. Getting there however is one bumpy ride.
In PA we can search this site: »pa.mypublicnotices.com/PublicNotice.asp for "Comcast" mentions in local newspapers. Occasionally there might be news there. I know in my bill there's not normally news, except for upcoming PPV events, but maybe I have an odd billing cycle date where I just don't make the cut for service changes. |

1 edit | reply to Mgsports you have to contact your franchise authority about local access. I myself am trying to get a local access channel added to my lineup but am having no luck. Your city or county controls the local access channel. If you want to produce a show and have it aired all you probably have to do is contact them to find out how you would go about having your content aired on the channel. |
