They switched me from Covad to ATT on Friday. I can connect from my laptop but not from my Zwall 2+ router. The configuration has worked for years. How do I connect through ATt?

| Re: [Home Networking] HELP: After switch to ATT from Covad I can Check your login details. You have to use the full email address "username@earthlink.net" with your password. In older days, they used a "ELK/" prefix in front of the email address that has been discontinued and some older systems they allowed only the username without the "@Earthlink.net" or "@Mindspring.com" Domain suffix that is now required. Can't think of anything else unless you added a "service name" which is supposed to be left blank on Earthlink DSL. -- Whats the point of owning a supercar if you cant scare yourself stupid from time to time? | |

I removed the service name and reentered the user name. That seemed to work. Thank you O-Wise-One. Your assistance to so many in this forum is indeed appreciated.

Yes, Service Name should always be left blank because EL (or their provider aka Covad, AT&T, Qwest) may change the Access Concentrator that you connect to/connect through at any time without warning or notice. That's why it is an optional field and by keeping it blank you can connect to any Access Concentrator that advertises services on the VC (Virtual Circuit) you are configured for. VPI/VCI settings are the two values that create the VC you connect to at the DSLAM.

Only the optional service, login user, password, CHAP/PAP authentication type, and nailed up time.

HUH? The ZyXEL Routers I have used and even the Earthlink Supplied ZyXEL units all have a settings page for VPI/VCI in the DSL Modem or the PPPoE would not work.

| Re: [Home Networking] HELP: After switch to ATT from Covad I can What model Zyxel is that? I'm wondering if that Zyxel auto detects the VPI/VCI.
edit:
I don't know what model you have but this is from a P-662HW/HW-D. Go to page 85, section 5.4.
