If you work for Jet in Radford/Christiansburg please read...

I'm currently a Jet subscriber for my Internet. I get TV service through Dish Network. I've had cable Internet at my current location and one previous location (which was on the same street) for about five years. I initally had Charter, then Suddenlink and now Jet.

Regardless of who owned the company, I've always gotten great speeds and service. My only complaint is that the maximum download speeds haven't kept up with the rest of the country/world, but I can live with it. The problem is that I'll soon be buying a new home and even though the house is in Christiansburg, I won't be able to get cable Internet there.

The house we're buying is new construction and was built on a road that has been extended to provide access to those new houses. Older homes on the same street and surrounding streets have access to cable, but unfortunately our house as well as a few of the other new ones won't.

My wife's grandfather lives in a newly constructed home on the same street we'll be moving to and has access, but the installers told him that his house is as far as it will go. I believe they connected my wife's grandfather to a pole a few hundred feet away and told him that the signal was barely strong enough to reach him. They also told him there's no plans to extend service to the other houses anytime soon due to lack of funds. I also contacted Jet directly and they did a site survey and confirmed that there's no access there. I was notified through an email response about the lack of service and haven't bothered calling and asking further because I doubt the phone operators would have much info about it anyway.

In all, I'd say theres about 10 or 12 homes that can't get cable on that street. I'm glad to be getting our first home, but REALLY bummed about having to get DSL and step down to only 3Mb download speeds.

My question is how long do you think it might take to get access to this area? The street is Kays Drive in Christiansburg. As I already said, all the older homes and even a few of the newer ones have access but about 10 or 12 of them don't.

ANY info at all on this would be appreciated.

Here's a map of the area I'm talking about:

Here's another picture containing the satellite view of the area. This satellite picture is older and as noted, there are literally dozens of new homes in the area at the bottom left which I would assume all have cable access. In addition, our new house as well as several others on Kays drive hadn't been constructed at the time of the photo.
