Got switched from Covad to ATT

I suspect that I can't change it back, right?

One of the things that was great with Covad was that if there was a problem, I could go to the tech support forum with line tests, etc.

Is there tech support for Earthlink folks who are using ATT lines?

Is there anything else to note from the switch regarding configurations to optimize performance? I did a line test and it seems to be of similar performance as before.

At some point I was eventually going to get Uverse for faster speeds whenever ATT gets around to providing that service.

Thanks for any input in advance,

Carey

Re: Got switched from Covad to ATT

I got switched from Covad to Verizon a couple years back. You basically have no say in it; you're stuck with the switch. I liked being able to talk to the Covad techs here, especially after Earthlink pulled all their tech support from this forum. But those days are gone.

The AT&T Direct forum here is an excellent source of help, but I don't know if they'll assist directly with Earthlink customers provisioned through AT&T. I kind of doubt that they're allowed to do that, but I might be wrong.

What I noticed when I was switched was some line instability for a couple days, then slightly faster speeds and slightly higher pings. The connection's been dependable. I hope you have similar luck.

I just noticed I got switched to AT&T also.

My speeds are the same as before.
I have the 6.0 down package.

I thought only Covad provisioned the 6.0 Speed and that the fastest speed EL could get out of AT&T was the 3.0 speed.

Can you post a trace route?

Nope. Their website is offering 6.0 downloads.

Whose web site?

EL has offered 6.0 for Years on their web site and when you ordered it, it was only available if Covad was in your local CO. If Covad was not in your local CO then you were offered 3.0 as the fastest available speed.

Dear Ted,
As stated by Dr. Olds, previously you could only get 6.0 DSL service through Earthlink if COVAD was co-located in your Central Office switch.

Of course, something new might have changed so please post a traceroute with your newly provisioned 6.0 service.

Sincerely,
Tobester.

Re: Here it is folks.

And are your sync rates are unchanged at 6016/768?

And unanswered, who's website? You never specified.

Also, why are you not calling in for a PM in your area? My 6.0 billing shows $54.95/Month, but that's not what I pay.

Re: Here it is folks.

Everything's the same. If it weren't for this topic I never would have bothered to check.

The website I mentioned was AT&T's website. I did go ahead and order their DSL only with no phone signal at 6.0 download.
It starts Sunday night and on Monday I cancel my telephone number and my Earthlink DSL.
I'm hoping I can use the same DSL modem but I'll wait and see. Anybody know if Earthlink and AT&T require different modems???
