Re: Women's Concealed Carry

It has to be recent???? NEVER has happenened?????
All I see is lots of question marks, and no links to actual news stories.

If you're so certain that this happens regularly, why can't you show us?

Because it would take a lot of research to hunt the MANY down... are you honestly trying to say it has never or frequently happened?

And not even just women, but permiteded someone got killed, for BS for no real reason but someone had a permit and a short temper.

Or that cocealed wepon in a bar is in anyway a GOOD idea???? Or for that matter anyone just scared because they are small and overdressed.and not trained? And that little 9mm isn't going to a damn thing agains the illegal automatic the other person might pull out.

Ain't big cities fun you even need to think of this BS.?

katrina wasn't a good enough damn reason to get out of New Orleans?? Crime is worse than it was in the few years before they were making some headway.

Parties are fine but dead a likelyhood is a place you want to live??? Isn;t somewhere else more sensible than a gun..

I'd rather live next to Fred Phelps and God Hates everything BS and laugh at him than put up with that kind of BS the city can't deal with.

The proof is in the links. All you've done thus far is rant without backing up your points.

Take a look at the number of gun crimes committed by licensed concealed carriers in your state:
»licgweb.doacs.state.fl.us/stats/···hly.html

167 licenses were revoked by the state because the licensee committed a guncrime. 167 revocations out of 581,325 active licenses. "Permit and short temper" simply don't exist when compared to the number of active licenses.

Where did this even come from? Most states do not allow concealed carry in bars. Texas doesn't, and neither does your state.

Huh?

They might pull out "the illegal automatic", but it's highly unlikely. Check out the government's statistics on the types of guns used to commit crimes: »www.ojp.usdoj.gov/bjs/abstract/guic.htm

Well I think AZ (or some state is about too) No real reason, but any reasonably threat even if not another gun you are free to blow anyone "personally" threatening in any way is perfectly legal in FL and has been for several years. (YES YOU MIGHT NEAD TO PROVE A DEADLY THREAT, BUT AGAIN BIG BURLY GUY AND SMALL WOMAN WOULD LIKELY BE NO ISSUE, especially unwitnessed threat real or not) And shot in the heart or head not just in the foot orsomething incapacitating.

Being able to carry in a bar does not make it legal to be drunk while carrying a concealed handgun. I go to bars (without my gun, of course, since that's illegal here ) on a somewhat regular basis, but am never drunk.

This is 100% false. You can't "blow away" someone for getting into a verbal (or even physical) confrontation. Please read your state's laws concerning justifiable deadly force and let us know what you've learned.

You're not making any sense. Did you even read any of the text I linked to?

quote:
»licgweb.doacs.state.fl.us/weapon···nse.html
Q. What if someone uses threatening language to me so that I am afraid for my life or safety?

A. Verbal threats are not enough to justify the use of deadly force. There must be an overt act by the person which indicates that he immediately intends to carry out the threat. The person threatened must reasonably believe that he will be killed or suffer serious bodily harm if he does not immediately take the life of his adversary.

If that didn't sum it up for you, I don't know what will.

And again jou scrwwny and they could be a NFL Tackle... and no witnesses at least none that will talk... guess what happens.

Yes you the concealed are the BIG TANK might work the other way.

Not that I wouldd maybe not chose to defend myself, but my FIRST CHOICE would be to live somewhere else I didn't need to worry about it.

Hell let the rat have the sewer and die of the filth..

I don't think a lot of people see a big guy walking down the street and shoot him just because there are no witnesses. It's been mentioned numerous times that deadly force is not justifiable just because someone looks tough... Everyone who carries a concealed weapon is aware of this.

There's no such thing as "no need to worry about it". All police departments have "goals" for response times. The police departments that serve my area have a 5 minutes "goal" for Code 1 (violent crimes/felonies-in-progress) calls. I would much rather fend for myself rather than waiting up to 5 minutes for help, when I need help immediately.

So, have you decided on a carry solution yet? I carry my Glock 23 in an inside-wasitband holster between 3:00 and 4:00, and it's worked great for me thus far.
Galco has an entire section of their website for women's holsters! Got some good ideas there... although I still think the local tactical store should offer fitting rooms and an on-staff female consultant!

I've tried on several holsters... and have pretty much decided that (as long as I buy shirts in a size Small instead of XS) a leather SOB holster OR an Inside-Waistband holster (probably between 4:00 and 5:00-- seems to fit my curves better) are going to be my best options. They will also work when I'm wearing skirts, as long as the material is stiff enough to hold the holster without a belt.

For more formal occasions... when I would be wearing a dress, I have a summer option and a winter option. In the Summer, I will have to use a concealed carry purse... too hot for a sweater and shoulder holster. In the winter, the shoulder holster with a coat should work!

That's probably more fashion info than you ever cared to stomach, but between women's fashion and women's curves... female options are WAY different!

My biggest goal is to have a lot of different options, since I have a lot of different types of outfits. I'll have to treat my holstering methods like my other accessories... different shoes and purses for different outfits, different holster for different outfits!

You're going to end up with a whole dresser full of holsters!

You can't go wrong with a Galco. I love my IWB from them. it's easy to wear all day and it's TOUGH. I got it just over a year ago and it's still in one piece. Absolutely great leather.

I'm pretty sure I'll have more holsters than I do shoes... and that's saying something!

Most of my husband's duty gear is Galco, and we've never had to replace it...

What do you carry? I love my G 23, but I am kinda wishing I would have gone with the 27, just for conceal-ability.

I tote a 1911 around. It's profile is thin and I can hide it very easy.
I've tried quite a few of my handguns for daily carry, but I always go back to my little Rock and the Galco.

I would suggest this:

You can sign up for the email newsletters. They come every day, but always worth the time to read. I just filter them to their own folder and read a bunch at once when I have the time.

Lots of information on various holsters and such, plus lots more.

Finally, I would suggest that you take some "combat handgunning" classes. They teach you to move and shoot at the same time, which is very important. Most people think that firing a few rounds at the range once a month is all the training they need...not true.

I am sure your husband can help you out with this...

Personally I think that a G23 is a bit big and heavy for a small person (I own a G23). Maybe look into something smaller...
I totally agree.

Try the Glock 26 (9mm) 'baby Glock' -- you will fall in love & trade the 23 for it. If your hand is too big (does not seem like it will be), and your pinky does not fit on the grip, they sell a cool little extender piece that screws onto the bottom of the grip so your pinky rests on it, perfect.

or the Glock 27 is the baby Glock in .40 caliber.
