| Westell 327 xbox issues please help!
I have a westell versalink 327, my xbox worked fine until my cousin thought hard reset was the same on a router like a modem. verizon then blocked my internet because they thought someone was messing with it. after we call verizon they set it up again, but then MTU settings didnt let me play xbox live. How do i change it? i have all the info on my modem so please ask me anything. |

| If you are getting an error message about MTU settings, it is probably spurious.
There isn't anything to set on the 327w for MTU. If the 327w is now working for other internet activity, then its setup should be suitable for Xbox.

| I don't remember the details, because I am not an xbox user. But there was a time that people were seeing MTU error messages, when the cause was unrelated to MTU. I think it may have been a problem with the servers being down for maintenance.
Normally MTU is an end-point issue. My DSL service uses PPPoE, so I set the MTU to 1492. But I don't set that in the 327w modem; I set it in the interface configuration of my operating system.
I suggest you check whether normal web surfing works properly. If not, then it is possible that something is still amiss in your ISP settings for your account, perhaps trapping you in a walled garden until they are fixed.

yeah, i know what you mean, but like i stated above it only happened AFTER my cousin did a hard reset on my modem. by the way when i go buy a new one which kind should i buy, because i have a dlink router for when i get the modem but should i just buy a 1 ethernet router? |

| Some recent Verizon modems go into a walled garden mode on reset, and you cannot fully connect to the internet until they are properly configured. Take a peek at this FAQ

| The FAQ mentions a "disable" button. If you are seeing "enable", then the chances are that the walled garden has already been disabled.
Does normal web surfing work with that modem? I don't think I have seen a clear answer. Make sure you can get to sites other than Verizon sites.
If all else is working, then you will have to hope somebody more familiar with xbox problems can step in and help you.

Jamaica Plain, MA | everything else is working normaly, thats why i was asking to see what modem i should buy. but yes EVERYTHING works fully. i can surf the web normally. the ONLY thing i cant do is play xbox live. |
