speedstream 5200

I have 2 Speedstream 5200 that I cannot log into. I did the re-set thing. Have tried 192.168.254.254, 192.168.2.1, 192.168.2.2., 10.0.0.1, "http://speedstream", all with no joy. They have the following part numbers: 060-e240-033 & 060-e240-014. I believe they are former Bell units and not sure if both are functional, but at least one of them was used recently. I have another older 5100 and no problems accesing the web interface.
Any other options to get into the web interface ?
Thanks

Try 192.168.0.1.

When you hook up any unit that has DHCP enabled it will tell you what IP to use by reading the Default Gateway after running the command "ipconfig /all" in a DOS Command Box. This is outlined in the FAQ below:

»Efficient Networks Forum FAQ »How do I Troubleshoot Web GUI Connection to 192.168.254.254?

==============================
060-e240-033 is a Bell Sympatico (now Bell Canada) unit and has a Firmware fix available but always verify the Part Number/Firmware revision before flashing. It uses IP »192.168.2.1

»Speedstream 5200 Updated Firmware HERE

**************************************

060-e240-014 appears to be a Bridge only 5200 and it would not show a Default Gateway IP, (verify that this is true) as you have to setup your PC with a Static IP of 10.0.0.2 and add an ARP Entry to access the Modem at IP »10.0.0.1 using its MAC ID.

What "reset thing" did you do? Simply pushing the reset button does nothing at all. There is a specific procedure that must be followed exactly instead.

Thanks for the replies. I was doing the reset correctly. I was not able to connect via 192.168.2.1 or 192.168.254.254. I am able to get into both of the modems by using the suggested technique of setting my nic to 10.0.0.2 and doing the arp and mac address routine. This worked on both modems. Unfortunately, when I attempt to change the host info to a standard like 192.168.0.1 and reboot, I am locked out again. I have been playing with these modem at work without a dsl line, just the network connection and a pc.

You cannot mix IPs and Procedures between the two completely different Modems.

None of the info I posted suggested that you continue to try 192.168.254.254 as none of the Bell Canada Modems have ever used that IP Address. Only Retail Router/Modems use that IP. ISPs tend to opt for non-standard LAN IPs.

What Default Gateway IP did you get from the 060-e240-033 Modem after running the "ipconfig /all" command?

A DSL Line is not required to access the LAN interface.

I'll ask the Mods to move this Topic to the Bell Canada Forum since they wrote the FAQs and are the experts on these particular Modems.
