My son, also 5 loves to play Mario Kart, , Wii Sports, Wii Play, Mario Party, Wario Ware, and Mario Galaxy. All which will put the Wii-mote to good use. Easy enough to pick up for the kids. I'm not sure what will suit your wants, but I enjoy all the same ones my kids do.
