Re: Not digital - but the end of Kodachrome. I love the look of Kodachrome, but the film itself has been a PITA to work with in modern years. In fact, I'm surprised this hasn't come sooner. The film is expensive, the processing is expensive, and you have to wait a few days for the USPS to ship it to/from Kansas. Kodachrome also had a nasty side effect of not scanning too well on some film scanners.
Its just much easier to shoot with Ektachrome (or really any other slide film) and get processing done and scan it in the same day. Its not Kodachrome, but the workflow is far easier and faster.
I still have one remaining roll of Kodachrome 64 that I plan to shoot with soon. I guess that would be my final farewell to a great film. |
