1 edit | Comcast Can't Port Phone Number from Wide Open West
I was ready to fork over for the triple play with 2 DVRs and 50/10 internet and they tell me they can't port from WOW cable.
Has anyone else experienced this before? I almost have a hard time imagining this, but I can't tell whether it's call center incompetence or WOW being such small potatoes.
Very annoying. I'm not giving up a 19 year old phone number. |

| I can't believe it either, but you could port your # from WOW back to AT&T (I KNOW that can be done!), then wait a month or so, then have cc port it from AT&T.
Yea, I know it's more work, but if you REALLY want to go to cc... |

1 edit | The Comcast rep said WOWw wasn't on the list in her program. So, it's not a WOW issue necessarily. Although, I suppose, WOW may be the one that's not allowing that. It just doesn't make sense to me though. I don't think WOW is like that.
I'm going to try again today and see if a different call center can handle it.
I've never seen anyone talk about this problem in the WOW forum and I know people have gone back and forth there. I just don't know if they've ported phone back and forth. |

I'm going to try again. The lady seemed less than with it. |

| I don't have specific knowledge of WOW, but it does seem like others have been able to port from WOW.
If you get the same answer from the new rep, ask them to put in a ticket so you can get a specific answer as to why it can't be ported. -- ******* Disclaimer: I am a Comcast employee. Any statements are my own and should not be construed as official Comcast communications. |

Edit: Just got off the phone with them. They can do it, no problem. WOW requires 5 days to do it though.
The first rep was just clueless I think. |

I'm looking forward to the 50/10 internet! I signed up for the locked and loaded promotion and added the fast internet. |

| reply to Goober Often times ports cannot happen from AT&T/WOW whatever due to Rate Center Issues.
Because Comcast is a Cable TV provider first and foremost, and a teleco second. Comcast has specific "rate centers" in select cities across a specific area code.
This means that just because you have a "630 or 708" area code does not necessarily mean that number could be ported.
Further examples of this area when you live in City A, and your telephone number is based out of City A, But the Comcast rate center is in City B.
Failed Port-outs because of this specific reason happen maybe 4% of the time and are usually AT&T to Comcast ports.
Rate Centers are specifically designed for local calling billing reasons. |
