| Westell 7500 And Linksys WRT610N Hope someone has any ideas..
My problem, I had the linksys wireless router before getting dsl, i used it w/a time warner cable modem.
I am trying to use the linksys as the wireless and not the verizon modem. I have tried the how to on from this forum, setting it as a bridge, removing the dhcp option, etc. Once I do that I have no internet through linksys. I read the manual but it has a different way, setting it as a bridge, and use routed IP. I havent tried it yet. Hoping there are other ideas out there.
I was thinking of getting a basic dsl modem that doesnt have the wireless or routing options.

| Re: Westell 7500 And Linksys WRT610N The most likely problem is a conflict between LAN ip address. As far as I know, both use the address range 192.168.1.*. So you need to change one of those to a different IP range, say 192.168.2.*.
Once that is changed, it should "just work" with the Westell being the modem, and the linksys picking up a WAN ip address from the Westell. This method would use double-NAT. I would start that way, since it should be the easiest to get going.
With the Westell set as a bridge, you should not have been having problems. But perhaps you skipped a step somewhere.

| Re: Westell 7500 And Linksys WRT610N I changed the linksys to .1.2 maybe it wasnt enough, i will try tho.
I tried a few times, reading the steps and going real slow. but on bridge mode, I get no IP address.
It was to easy doing it for a cable modem just plug and go.
I figured there was a reason the verizon modem was cheap. It's a hassle. and Verizon "tech" is no help, they told me bridge it, but thats it. which i did and it didnt work.
If it doesnt work i'll prob just get another dsl modem.

| Re: Westell 7500 And Linksys WRT610N When the linksys use 192.168.1.2 as LAN ip, and subnet mask 255.255.255.0, it expects the full range 192.168.1.* to be on the LAN side of the router. So the WAN IP it gets from the Westell is supposed to be a LAN address rather than a WAN address.
Changing to 192.168.2.1 for linksys address will change that. It will expect LAN IPs to be of the form 192.168.2.*, and having a 192.168.1.* address on the WAN side of the router will no longer be a conflict.
As for bridge settings: If you are in an area where Verizon uses PPPoE, then you would have to setup the linksys for handling the PPPoE to get an IP address. I'm not sure whether that's your situation.

I will try changing it to the 2.1 and PPPoE on the Linksys.
I set up the Linksys to use PPPoE when I change the westell to Bridge mode and it did not work.
