1 edit | reply to r81984 Re: [Rant] When is 12:01AM (Movie Theater Rant)
I'm just saying that, the majority of people who go to the midnight opening day showing are people who REEEEALLLY want to see the movie.
I understand what you're saying, but it is probably an issue with their ticketing system. Anyone who has worked customer contact where a computer is involved knows that niggling little issues like this aren't a priority and the people who can fix them are way way up the chain and possibly at another company.
If you're a small chain the only "fix" may be to go with another vendor who likely has a different set of annoying problems. -- Come let us reason together. |

| reply to goingtonight So I'm planning on purchasing tickets to Harry Potter & the Half-Blood Prince, and the earliest tickets I see are listed as 12:01am on Tuesday, July 14, even though I know the movie comes out on Wednesday the 15th.
Is the movie really going to be on the 14th, or, as you have experienced, does 12:01am Tuesday really equal 12:01am Wednesday?
Thanks for your help. |

| reply to goingtonight If you want to add confusion to this, here's one.
I have been to a few "midnight" previews myself over the years. Now here it's Wherenberg Theatres.
Now if you go by Ronnie's 20 Cine in South county, when they sell a ticket they sell it for the day of the showing at 12 A.m. and you best show up at that time and that's when it plays.
However, over here in Illinois at the ones in o'fallon and places. THey consider 06/24 to happen at 8:01 A.M. (theatre closed). So when they sell a show they can sell it for 06/23 at 12 A.M. and it would mean 06/24/09 12 A.M.
The only safest way I have found to thwart this problem is to ask the theatre what the day is considered. Is it considered still 06/23/09 till 8 A.M. 06/24/09? or is it 06/24 on 12:01 A.M. like the rest of the world.
And yes, you can thank computers and end of day processing for this one. Ironically Wal-mart shuts down their registers at exactly 12:00 A.M. and starts a new day. However, the gas station I used to work at during college considered 5:15 A.M. = New day.
It's messed up but if you know what or when they consider "new day" that would avoid a lot of these problems. Ironically the person you will probably want to talk to is the person that is there in his office at 8 A.M. (theatre owner) that's doing the final paperwork for the day before, and prepping the theatre for that night's "business".

| This is from fandango from a random movie at Cinemark. Look how they try to justify their stupidity. Any reasonable person would see Thursday 12:01am and go then, but I think the theater really means Friday 12:01am. Someone needs to be fired at that theater. -- For those of you playing a drinking game.... MY FRIENDS! |

| Its the :01 thats retarded. It is there to remopve all doubt as to the time of the showing. I agree, any Judge would kick their ass. Just how do you prove any damages?
It should be listed as 11:59 PM.
Also 12 AM and 12 PM have no meaning. -- Team JON. |

I told you why it happens, and why it will never get fixed. You can bitch all you want but the simple solution is to ask the theater if you're seeing anything after midnight.
This happens in other industries too, it's not like it's some theater trying to screw you thing. -- Come let us reason together. |

im no lawyer but as far as i can fathom that ticket is a binding contract to show the movie at 12:01am on the date published on the ticket. its just no one has had the patience to sue over it. |
