MMORPG Games?

Since 1997/1998, I have been playing The Realm Online (»www.realmserver.com) which I really like. What I like most about the game is the social aspect of it... You can often find people sitting in pubs just talking. The game is also more life like than others. It does have magic and whatnot, but everything takes place in midevil times.

I was also into The Sims Online while it was still running. Again, the biggest draw for me was the Social Aspect of the game. It wasn't always just play play play... You can just sit around and talk or play.

I have tried getting into WoW but the biggest thing for me is that there is no social life on there. It's just a bunch of people running around doing spells or asking you to join/sign for their guide. The game also seems to just be thrown together... you have panda's, motocycles, and casles all mixed together which makes no sense at all. I've also noticed that you might have 50 people standing around together, but they are all just doing random stuff (spells, dancing, spamming, etc) but yet no one is talking and if you do say anything they just ignore you.

Anyone know of a MMORPG that has a good social as well as "game" life?

I used to play FED on genie. They still run it as a telnet on the internet. That was 90% social, 10% silly gameplay. But that was a long time ago.

Two things. I've never tried it, but Second Life might be right up your alley.

Also, if you try wow, try rolling a toon on a RP (role playing) server. You might find people much more willing to socialize there.

Problem with second life is that the only thing that there is to do is have toon sex.

Though linden Labs to working to change that, as companies have pulled out due to the adult nature of the game.

Ultima Onlime was kinda like what you stated. You could hang out in taverns, drinking and pinching the serving wenched bottoms. Or go mine so ore and make some armour or weapons. Or get a group together and kill a whole buch of deer of hides to work tailoring skills.

Or invent someone over to help you design and decorate your UO house.

Or just group up and go to a dungeon and have fun.

If you dont mind playing MUDs, here is one that could give you the social interaction you want:

Gemstone IV: »www.play.net/gs4/

I've been playing it off and on for a long time now and still has a small dedicated base for a MUD.

Re: MMORPG Games?

I haven't played GS in a long time, and hadn't realized they moved up to IV I played in the III era; I migrated over to DragonRealms when that was released and stuck there for a long time before moving on to other games... sadly, most mainstream MMOs lack the social environment(s) these older MUDs... I'm waiting for a one to capture that element.

Should come back and give it another try. There are tons of changes and new places since the times of III. Sadly you are lucky to have 300-500 people on there anymore but the core group is very solid. Still a very addictive game to me with a good group of online friends to enjoy it with. If you decide to give it a try again let me know and I'll IM you my char's info so you can look him up IG.

i Used to play ultima online still have my account. Don't play anymore but still have it active 128 months old:) .Then i went to world of warcraft played that din't like it.

Then went to www.runescape.com now i tried to play runescape years ago and did not like it.

But with all the updates and the new hd mode i love it.

It is also free but you are limited on what u can do on free accounts.

It's the only game that has uo and wow and med 59 all in one.

graphics are not that great and the clicking to move takes some time to get used to.

There servers are called worlds and you can switch to a diff world whenever you want and everything goes with you.

I got most of my real life friends to quit wow to come to rs. But what one person may like the other won't so you pick what game you like best.

If you go members on rs it's like 5.95 us a month
