[DW7000] AMC3 Outage?

I've had an outage since about 2:00 PM EDT. Signal strength is showing 12. Is anyone else on AMC3 experiencing this or do I need to go out and debug my equipment?

TIA,

Reg

Well, it's working today, but barely.

Yesterday evening, I swapped out the transceiver and the signal strength went up from 12 to 26. Occasionally it would lock to a carrier and show 30 and even 43, but it would not make a real connection. I also tried swapping out the power supply in case that had failed, but that didn't make a difference.

Last time I pointed my antenna I had a signal strength of 65. Lately it has been about 59 or 60. Today, I'm at 48. I'm thinking something has gone wrong with this spacecraft, but I'm not sure. Perhaps I have a cabling problem. I'll have to check that this weekend.

The other thing I think I am going to do is to accept a 0.99m 2W dish that my brother has offered me. That should help out with signal strength if it is on their end.

Of course my LAST resort would be to call HughesNet.

False alarm. I have a cabling problem in my setup...

I swapped out one 15' section of the Rx cable for a 50' RG6 CATV cable I had lying around and my signal strength went up to 59! Clearly I have a problem in my cable.

At this point I'm concluding that the installer that put this in 5 years ago used non-burial grade cable even though it is buried for 4' from my dish to the house.

Bottom line: HughesNet requires us to pay top dollar for their installers, some of whom use inferior materials and techniques, leaving us to pay the bill for the repairs down the line. Thanks, HughesNet!
