Using the apple and farmer, what it is more like is the farmer giving you the apple, but making you tell everyone you meet where you got it. These sites let you operate for free, but post a lot of advertisements that everyone that comes to your site has to see all the time.

It may be hard for you to believe, but there exists places out there that offer free hosting. It's not theft to use such a service.
