Most ISP's offer 10MBs of space for free when you use their services. I know cox (my ISP) offers something like that and it is free. You could easily password protect your site and only give it out to your "friends". |

Using the apple and farmer, what it is more like is the farmer giving you the apple, but making you tell everyone you meet where you got it. These sites let you operate for free, but post a lot of advertisements that everyone that comes to your site has to see all the time.

It may be hard for you to believe, but there exists places out there that offer free hosting. It's not theft to use such a service.
Sounds like your site is really simple; a few pictures and text. Check out freewebs. I'd even bet they have a guestbook widget that would be easy to implement.
