| DSLX fiber install WITH existing FiOS I have Verizon FiOS right now, and I am planning on ordering DSLX fiber to replace the FiOS. DSLX has better speeds at a better price, so it is almost a no-brainer  . I have some questions about it though...
1. Do they still send someone out for an install if you have FiOS?
2. If they sent someone out would they switch me over to cat5 wiring. I have MOCA now, and I REALLY want to use my own router. I have tried to bridge so many times, and each attempt fails 
3. If they would switch me over to cat5, would they run it for me? I only have to go ~50ft, through one wall.

So I don't know how you can say DSLX has better speeds. DSLX does have better pricing, if you do not have FIOS-TV and/or VZ phone.
VZ has now raised both the speed tiers and prices. See this thread:

| Let me rephrase what I said about the prices. Verizon offers 15mb/5mb for $59.99 a month, then there is a big jump to 25mb/15mb for $69.99. I don't want verizon phone, it is way overpriced, voip is alot cheaper. For $5 less I can get 20/5 from dslx. I don't want to pay $70 a month for my Internet! I also like how port 80 is not blocked, and I have heard that their customer service is better. I might have been wrong about their speeds being better, but their prices are better, and they have more speed tiers.
Does anyone have an answer to the questions in my first post?

Verizon 15/5 is $50/mo or $45 if you have phone service; 25/15 is $70 without phone, $65 with. As of today, DSLX is $43 for 10/2, or $58 for 20/5 (includes the $3 line-sharing that verizon charges them).
Also, have you tried port 80 on verizon lately? Others reported it is now open, and I verified mine is working. | |

| The answer to your questions depend partly on how DSLX and VZ handle the transfer.
DSLX offers an Express ISP Change service. However, I don't know if that applies to fiber.
If it is handled as a billing transfer of an existing account, then VZ probably wouldn't send anyone out. However, considering all the billing issues posted in the VZ forums and the way VZ ties service to a phone number (or pseudo-phone number if no VZ phone service), I think this is unlikely.
IMO, it is more likely that it will be treated as a disconnect and new service. i.e. DSLX is the customer and it would be included in their master billing. If this is the case, you would probably be subject to an ETF if you are under a contract plan with VZ. Since for billing purposes, this is a new install, then VZ might send someone out to ensure everything is working.
If you currently a coax connection to your router, I think it is unlikely that the tech would switch you to cat5 without charging you for doing so. See my post here for the likelihood of getting cat5 on a new install.
My recommendation is before you switch to DSLX:
•Run the cat5 yourself (or hire someone to do it).
•Connect it to the ONT.
•Call the FSC or post in »/forum/vzdirect to have your provisioning switched from coax to cat5.

Once you're on a cat5 connection, then go ahead and switch to DSLX. If a VZ tech does come out, simply ask that he leave you on the cat5 connection. If one does not come out, you're already on cat5, so no problem. | |

| Thanks! So I went ahead and ordered some cat5 cable to run, it actually will be relativily easy to put in place, as for the ETF I called VZ and they said my contract was up. So once I get that cable in place I will give VZ a call, and get that set up. Thanks again for your help! | |
