Re: [Rant] store shopping carts

Carts are about as nasty as they come. Think of the all people that had there hands on that bar. When is the last time any one has seen them clean the carts? It would scare the hell out of people if they seen what grew in a petri dish and we put our hands right on that bar. LOL Yes the wheels piss me off in a bad way. It all comes down to one thing SAVE A BUCK!

The local grocery store here has antibacterial wipes in a dispenser just inside the door for customers who wish to wipe the handle off.

There is also a trash can for disposal of the debris that the previous inconsiderate slob has left in the cart.

A visit to the supermarket is a lesson on how disgusting people really are.

All the stores here have the antibacterial wipes at the entrance. Plus, my favorite store has a bunch of the mini wagons. I LOVE those.

The wipes are pointless given that all the stuff on the shelves has been handled by people. And just to be sure everyone shares, your cashier will handle everything again, passing the germs from the previous customer on to your goods.

The handle bars get cleaned regularly, by the users' hands.

With all this sanitizer wipe talk just how many times do people see other people using them? On my end NONE! NEVER! So a lot of good they be when people never use them. The point is that carts are nasty! I know my self that I pick my ass when I am in the store. Man has to do what a man needs to do at the time. LMAOROTF

The two stores here have no sanitizer wipes.

In our grocery stores now cashiers wear gloves or use hand sanitizer between checking out each person. Most everyone stops to get the wipes at the front of the stores and wipes off the wagon handle. I carry hand sanitizer in my purse now. No one here wants to get Swine flu. Maybe things will change once the vaccine is available.

Maybe it's just me, but when I see a cashier wearing disposable latex gloves, I feel like I have some sort of dread disease.

I mean, I'm cool with the hand sanitizer, but I really don't see the need for wearing gloves, so long as you don't touch your nose or mouth (something I don't want to see a cashier doing anyway).

[sarcasm] maybe we should have all cashiers where hasmat suites? actually would be kinda cool. [/sarcasm]

Maybe I shouldn't say this, but I've always entertained fantasies about kitting out a store full of cashiers in the manner of the scientists in the film The Andromeda Strain:

...just to see what the reaction of the shoppers would be.

Terror? Confusion? Mass incontinence? Who knows?

I do know that my April Fools jokes don't tend to have that kind of budget. Which perhaps is just as well.

do you want the residue from crack on your hands that could be on the money? or UV Ink if the money was stolen from a bank?

Also if the gloves are Blue they're not latex which most companies use blue ones.

The Walmart here has the deli workers pretty close to it. They've got paper hairnets, paper full frontal face masks (Not like a doctors, they're full frontal and on some people cover ears aswell), paper aprons, elbow-high plastic gloves, and what basically amount to waders (almost knee high rubber boots). The comical appearance aside, it doesn't go through my head as "Oh good I don't have to worry about bodily fluids/hair/feet ending up in my bologna" It's more of a "How bad are the sanitary conditions and the way employees handle food if they're being made to wear all that..."
