Re: Hey Verizon wants a tax free transition, called the Reverse Morris Trust. They pulled the same trick in Northern New England, "merged" with a small company and then "spun" them off tax free. I'm not an accountant but I don't believe they can pull this stunt with a large company like AT&T, hence you'll end up with the same thing we did-an underfunded smaller company with a big debt. Verizon will never do "the right thing", only the most profitable thing. Google "Verizon Fairpoint" for a history lesson and to see whats coming. Also check "Hawaii telecom bankruptcy", another Verizon spin off. |
