Oh how about the one about the guy that comes in with a desktop/keyboard issue and checks it in for a diagnostic...the genius reports the handles are sticky and the keyboard is just filthy and some keys stay down when pressed.
Further diagnostics--like turning it on--show that the guy is a porn freak. How did we know that? Well the desktop picture was a giveaway for one. A bunch of movies on the desktop with some really disgusting names (and I've been a porn connoisseur for years) were another.
Thank GOD I didn't check that in...everyone handled it with latex gloves after that. Ewwwww.

Asswipe #1: Hispanic gentleman comes to the bar with a shattered iPhone screen. VERY broken engleeesh. Try to explain to the guy that his iPhone is damaged and is out of warranty because of the shattered screen. He wants his iPhone replaced for free since he just bought it about a week or so ago. Very apologetic, I say no and explain why and tell him the cost to replace it. He wants to talk to a manager and I comply...the manager backs me up and the customer leaves pissed off and causes a disturbance in the store.
I work ever other day or so and on my next shift--not at the bar, but at the front of the store--the idiot returns! I recognize him and do my usual nice welcome to the store...the bastard speaks to me in FLUENT ENGLISH and says that he wants to buy an iPhone! I handed him off to another specialist and went to the back room and bit through a Mac Pro.

All of the stories I've read here through the years about how badly they might have been treated by a Genius...stand fast in their shoes and tell me that you wouldn't put up with that type of crap if it was reversed--they have to. I'm not condoning crappy customer service, but there are some Genii that have burned out because of too many rude customers--of course there are some that just plain suck, but that's another issue.

I kept all my t-shirts and still wear them, I worked as a specialist at the Galleria Mall in St. Louis/Clayton for a little over a year. I started when the iPod Nanos first came out and replaced the minis.
I did it part time for the extra cash and it was fun for a bit but got to be tiresome especially during the Holidays.
I did enjoy my time as an official Apple employee but I don't miss the retail aspect of it. |
