Did Bellboy change the topic title already? 2004-2009 would mean becoming a Mac Specialist and dying all within 5 years of life, shouldn't the intention of the title be obvious? |

What is Teh Steve like in person? Is he an asshole or a genuinely nice guy? If you have an extra shirt I will take one. I lost the only Apple shirt I had. |

He was nice but kinda curt...it was in public at Macworld...if it would have been in private or on campus he might have stabbed me (and taken my liver) or just fired me. -- "When the day comes that anyone can bend our country's laws and lawmakers to serve selfish, competitive ends, that day democratic government dies." -- Preston Tucker, June 1948 |

I wish I had time to just chill and talk about Macs for moolah. It was great. It was actually a second job--I still have a full time job. It was for a few reasons...the money, the discount, the fun...mostly for the discount.
The most fun I think I had working there was working the keynote during the iPhone announcement at Macworld. The energy there could be felt, it was amazing. Almost like a rock concert--matter of fact I thought I saw some fanbois tossing boxers on the stage. -- "When the day comes that anyone can bend our country's laws and lawmakers to serve selfish, competitive ends, that day democratic government dies." -- Preston Tucker, June 1948 |

| reply to BellBoy I kept all my t-shirts and still wear them, I worked as a specialist at the Galleria Mall in St. Louis/Clayton for a little over a year. I started when the iPod Nanos first came out and replaced the minis.
I did it part time for the extra cash and it was fun for a bit but got to be tiresome especially during the Holidays.
I did enjoy my time as an official Apple employee but I don't miss the retail aspect of it. |

| said by mayhew2345 :did apple pay well or about average for tech? For being a Mac Specialist I think I was paid pretty well considering it was a part time job. If I was getting that for full time, I wouldn't have taken it.
The Genii are the most under paid and under appreciated employees that Apple has IMO. The shit they have to put up with on a daily basis from extremely demanding, spoiled, and--in almost 50% of the cases--(honestly) stupid people on the planet is amazing. Since I was behind the bar a lot, I saw a ton of just downright childish behavior. People that, if you encountered them in your day and they treated you that way, you'd drop like a bad habit.
All of the stories I've read here through the years about how badly they might have been treated by a Genius...stand fast in their shoes and tell me that you wouldn't put up with that type of crap if it was reversed--they have to. I'm not condoning crappy customer service, but there are some Genii that have burned out because of too many rude customers--of course there are some that just plain suck, but that's another issue.
As I jump from my 50-story soapbox...
