Re: att dsl sales reps oversold dsl speeds

There often seems to be lack of communication between sales and tech. Sales kept trying to sell me Pro because they thought I was on an available RT, but that kept getting refused because I was 12,000' from CO.

Have you tried the AT&T Direct forum here? They got me moved to the RT (1600') for Pro, and then Elite speeds. Although, I initially had the usual "they forgot to update the download profile for Elite" which AT&T Direct resolved for me. So AT&T Direct is a good place to try first for techincal issues. Just be patient (they cannot do everything instantly).

Yes, I upgraded from PRO to ELITE last December. I was having problems after the upgrade so they dispatched a tech. He got to my house and called me saying 'who told you that you could get ELITE speed?" I said "the sales rep". He said that I was probably too far away. He did some work outside, came in the house, connected the line from outside directly to the line where my modem is, swapped the old Speedstream modem with a new Motorola modem. I had been getting about 5.1 mbps down but lately it has fallen off to 2.5 mbps. I am trying to solve that problem in this thread:

»Pay for Elite but always drops back to Pro speed

From talking to most of my friends, many dsl sales rep with no technical knowledge tend to oversold dsl speeds to customers, which is basically my distance is too far for my speed. I have many problems of my own trying to call for a technician to come and correct this problem. Does anybody have this same problem?
