| Re: [NBA] SHAQ to the CAVS! The Cavs can offer more money than anyone else, and LeBron is from the area. Why wouldn't they go after him with everything they got? This isnt Major League Baseball, where you can be priced out of the market, especially when you have no other max contracts on your payroll.
If Yao Ming can be an international superstar from frickin Houston, and Tiger Woods can make $1 billion without any identifiable home area, there's no reason LeBron cant kick ass in Cleveland. With the global and mobile market the way it is, being in New York is a lot less important for an athlete's endorsements than it was 20 years ago. -- You're so vain... Back in the day a guy like Joe Willie Namath and New York was a GO from the get-go. But it wouldn't be like that today for the reasons you gave.

| Re: [NBA] SHAQ to the CAVS! I think it's actually a tremendous benefit for LeBron to stay away from New York. First of all, that franchise is still a shambles. Second, he wouldn't have to deal with the crush of the New York media, which can ruin a guy pretty quickly *cough*A-Rod*cough*. Third, Cleveland really doesn't have anything going for it, and he can rule that city for the rest of his life, especially if he pulls down a ring or two. -- You're so vain... Shaq can't hit an outside shot so he'd have to stay near the basket where Howard would like to be on defense to pick up Lebron driving. On the defensive end he is a liability on the pick 'n roll just like Ilgauskas. Plus at 37 he's effective for only 20 minutes a game.
Predict Cavs will get bounced out in the East finals again vs a healthy Celtic squad and Kobe will be asking Shaq 'how his ass tastes'.

Yes, if KG was healthy this year the Celtics would have smoked the Cavs, I can't see Shaq changing anything. The Cavs are at their best when they are running, perhaps Shaq will give them a few more rebounds but he's old and slow so I doubt he will elevate their game. -- Amateurs study tactics. Shaq isn't even a top 5 big anymore... Vince will be better for the Magic than Shaq will be for the Cavs... the Cavs should have gone after Vince thats what they needed... Dwight didn't kill them... | Shaq has seen his better years for sure, but this cant do anything but help them. They needed a true center for defense after Dwight Howard pretty much won game 7 by himself. He's a good player but he's not 40 pts a game good. The Cavs still need someone that can knockdown open shots consistently when Lebron has to pass the ball. I see them making one more big trade.

| Re: [NBA] SHAQ to the CAVS! Yes, and Dwight was the reason they won the series... Last time I checked they couldn't stop the pick and role with Rashard and Hedo... and if Shaq tries to go out there he is slower than any other big which makes him more of a liability.. -- "I done wrassled with an alligator, I done tussled with a whale, only Last week I murdered a rock, Injured a stone, hospitalized a brick, I'm so mean I make medicine sick!!"-Ali | |

| Lebron & Shaq from 1999 may have been able to do something. Lebron and Shaq from 2009 won't go anywhere. Cavs' GM pulled this as a last ditch effort to keep Lebron away from NY. (I curse his name.) He has to know Shaq isn't a viable long term solution. If they're smart, they use this to buy them another year and find a way to make some killer trades to get Lebron a solid 4 and a decent backup for the 20 minutes a game Shaq sits on the bench. -- Blogsaus "The same crowd that cheers at your triumphant entry will be the ones that crucify you in the end.
