Lebron & Shaq from 1999 may have been able to do something. Lebron and Shaq from 2009 won't go anywhere. Cavs' GM pulled this as a last ditch effort to keep Lebron away from NY. (I curse his name.) He has to know Shaq isn't a viable long term solution. If they're smart, they use this to buy them another year and find a way to make some killer trades to get Lebron a solid 4 and a decent backup for the 20 minutes a game Shaq sits on the bench.

Yes, and Dwight was the reason they won the series... Last time I checked they couldn't stop the pick and role with Rashard and Hedo... and if Shaq tries to go out there he is slower than any other big which makes him more of a liability..

Shaq has seen his better years for sure, but this cant do anything but help them. They needed a true center for defense after Dwight Howard pretty much won game 7 by himself. He's a good player but he's not 40 pts a game good. The Cavs still need someone that can knockdown open shots consistently when Lebron has to pass the ball. I see them making one more big trade. |

Lebron likes NYC. That is why I think he is going to jump ship. Even though he gets a lot of endorsements I think being in NYC will help him achieve even more money in that market. Hell he plays great in MSG so why not play great 41 times a year there 
edit : Also when the Cavs drafted Lebron their team was as bad as the Knicks are now.

Shaq is a 40 year old who cant play a full game... he took a suns team that was contenders year in and year out to be noncontenders... Shaq isn't even a top 5 big anymore... Vince will be better for the Magic than Shaq will be for the Cavs... the Cavs should have gone after Vince thats what they needed... Dwight didn't kill them... Rashard did and they STILL have no one to guard Rashard... and NOW the Magic has VINCE CARTER!! They should have gone after Vince so Vince could match up on Rashard

Yes, if KG was healthy this year the Celtics would have smoked the Cavs, I can't see Shaq changing anything. The Cavs are at their best when they are running, perhaps Shaq will give them a few more rebounds but he's old and slow so I doubt he will elevate their game.
